Briar worked with Up With Women starting at the age of seven. At the time, she was a shy, but determined young girl. Ten years later, she is a model citizen, an award winning young leader who teaches indigenous culture to non-indigenous students, she dances in the traditional jingle dress, she runs her own small business making Pow Wow regalia, and she plans to go to Harvard to study law.

Most extraordinary, though, is the story of the struggle that her mother went through to build a great life for Briar and her family. Watch her heart-wrenching, totally inspiring talk that she gave when she was just fourteen years old. Get out your kleenex.
